Jagruti High School, Mandal, was established in 1986. It is unique in that it is the first rural vernacular school run by the Christian Brothers in India. Mandal is situated about 75 kms from Surat and about 340 kms from Mumbai in the tribal belt of South Gujarat. The school caters to the tribal students in Mandal village as well as five other villages surrounding it. In addition there are hostels for both boys and girls on the campus. The school is a Higher Secondary school with classes from Std 9 to 12. The strength of the school this year is 420 boys and 435 girls. The students take the state SSC exam after Std 10 and the HSC exams in Arts, Commerce and Science in Std 11 & 12.
